Facial Rejuvenation

Facelifts

Dr Flood has many ways of rejuvenating your face. His aim is for you to look and feel younger and healthier. The skin and sometimes the muscles of your face, chin, and neck can be tightened by small incisions in the hairline. Depending on the extent of your surgery, bruising and swelling may be visible for a few weeks.

After surgery Dr Flood sometimes uses Botox and dermal and subdermal fillers to complete your new look.

Eyelid Surgery

Blepharoplasty is the term used for this procedure. It corrects drooping eyelids or those puffy bags under your eyes.

An upper bleph is a simple day surgery procedure where Dr Flood makes an incision in the lid crease so this is virtually invisible. You may have slight bruising for a week or so but otherwise you can return to normal activities soon after. A pair of sunglasses help post-op to hide any bruising or swelling.

The result is a more youthful, refreshed look and this is one of our most popular procedures.

Lower blephs can remove those unwanted bags, and again is performed as a day-only procedure. The incision is usually made just inside the eyelids and there is some swelling and bruising for 1-2 weeks.

Botox

Botox is a diluted form of Botulinum Toxin, a purified protein manufactured in a pharmaceutical laboratory. It acts by reducing the nerve stimulation to muscle and therefore induces relaxation. It is administered by a few tiny injections under the skin.

"I have been having regular botox for about a year now and my friends and boyfriend keep saying how healthy and wonderful I look. All those tired lines have gone!"

Cheek and Chin Implants

Almost any part of the face can be improved by facial implants. Young patients often seek facial implants because they add character to their face, whilst older patients benefit from implants to correct aging of the facial skeleton at the time of face or neck lifting procedures. A chin implant may enhance the effect of a face lift by strengthening the definition of the jaw line or cheek implants may add character to the upper face, in combination with a brow lift or face lift.

Browlifts

This procedure can give you a more youthful and fresher look. Dr Flood usually does this procedure endoscopically. A small telescope is inserted through tiny incisions behind the hairline and he can then use this as a guide in lifting the forehead and brow tissue.

There is usually swelling and bruising for a couple of weeks and full results can be seen after a month or so.

Ear Set back (Otoplasty)

Adults and children may be unhappy with the shape of their ears because they are too large, stick out too much or have an unusual shape. As such patients may become self-conscious of their ears because of other people's jokes or taunting. Patients may go to great lengths to camouflage their ears by changing their hairstyle or indeed wearing hats. At times patients may avoid certain activities such as swimming, so that their ears are not on show.

"My 9 year old boy was so self conscious about his stick-out ears but since his operation with Dr Flood he has not looked back. So much more outgoing and happy."

Satisfied Client

Otoplasty is a straight-forward surgical procedure which involves alteration of the shape of the ear to make it appear more normal and lie closer to the scalp. The operation is performed with incisions hidden behind the ear. The operation helps to restore the patient's self-confidence.

Neck Lifting

It is important when assessing the neck to understand the underlying anatomy that has contributed to neck aging. The individual components include skin redundancy, platysmal (neck muscle) separation and laxity, excessive neck fat (either on top of deep to the platysma muscle) and atrophy of the chin bone. The superficial soft-tissue elements must be considered against the backdrop of the underlying bone musculoskeletal architecture, ie, neck length, position of the hyoid bone in relation to the neck muscles and the projection of the chin.

Fat Injections

Fat injections or autologous fat transplantation is an excellent technique for facial and body contouring. The fat is usually aspirated from the patient's abdominal wall or around their knees. The aspirated fat is centrifuged, condensed, and re-introduced at different sites to even out skin depressions, fill unwanted creased and smooth irregularities of soft tissues. Fat injections have been used in face lifts to plump out the nasolabial folds. Fat injections have been used to fill the upper lips to give a 'Paris look'. Fat injections can be used for the correction of depressed scars and to revise contour irregularities secondary to liposuction.
